Interesting article in the Guardian said that 60% of care workers were reasonably relaxed about the use of CCTV cameras within their homes.
When asked, 53% of residents actively opposed the use of cameras in their rooms.
This ties in nicely with an article featured on BBC’s “The One Show” on Monday the 28th September where a care home in Birmingham has CCTV installed throughout the building.
This is a subject of intense debate. There are those in the care sector who would say this is Protection via surveillance, others that this is an invasion of the privacy of those living there.
The CQC has guidance on this matter. Please click here to see what the CQC thinks of using hidden cameras to monitor care.
