Will your policies and procedures comply with the requirements of the new CQC Quality Statements and

Updated: Apr 24

I was having a look the other day at the number of blogs I have done, and much to my surprise I have now written over 300 on various topics relating to social care. All of which can be found in the ‘news‘ section of our website.

The purpose of my blogs has always been to bring readers topics of interest that they may use to improve their services and to give me the opportunity of expressing an opinion on matters that are impacting on the delivery of quality social care services. In addition, keeping readers in touch about the work we are doing at Bettal Quality Consultancy.

We know from visitors to our website that the blog I did on understanding the difference between policies, procedures, protocols, and guidance, PPPGs is by far the most read with hundreds of hits. I guess my background in quality assurance may have brought some clarity to the topic. At Bettal we want to bring the same clarity to the policies and procedures contained in the Bettal Cared4 CQC Compliant Quality Management System.

Gearing up for the first inspection under the new CQC Inspection Regime

Many providers will now be gearing up for their first inspection in the new year under the new CQC Inspection Regime and meeting the CQC Quality Statements and related regulations. This is no easy task given the multitude of problems faced by managers of social care services.

Documented evidenced based inspections

Given that recent research suggests that the CQC are carrying out far fewer inspections, it is not hard to see that in future they will be relying more heavily on evidenced based documentation. For example, they could ask managers to submit a record of the complaints they have received and action they have taken to resolve them.

They may well adopt a similar approach to information requests about safeguarding or infection control issues.

Bettal have taken the view that our customers need a robust quality management system that enables them to provide evidence of the day-to-day operation of their service.

Bettal Cared4 CQC Compliant Quality Management System – compliance at a reasonable cost

We can help to take the stress out of the change from Key Lines of Enquiry to Quality Statements. Our new system includes all the documentation you will need to address the CQC Quality Statements. In essence we have cross referenced the requirements of the CQC to where they can be found in the relevant policy or procedure.

We have also provided managers with additional sources of evidence and a record of the actions they have taken which they can submit to the CQC.

Our aim is:

• To supply our customers with a quality management system containing all the evidenced based policies and procedures you need to meet the new CQC Quality Statements and Relevant Regulations. • At an affordable price (50% cheaper than our main competitor). • With excellent customer care.

Unique features:

The system contains some unique features including: • Guidance for managers on where evidenced based policies and procedures address Quality Statements. • Guidance for inspectors on where evidence is contained within the documents. • Cross referencing of all Quality Statements to relevant policy or procedure. • Evidence based recording forms. • Documentation that supports a compassionate and respectful care service: including culture, values, ethos and good governance.

Summary

Switching the content of policies and procedures from the Key Lines of Enquiry to Quality Statements will involve providers in a great deal of work. Managers need to be confident that they can supply the CQC with evidence statements that comply with the CQC requirements.

Bettal is so confident about the ability to meet the New CQC’s Quality Statements and Related Regulations that we make this promise: should a CQC inspector require any document that is not in our system, we will create it for you – free of charge.

If you are looking for a robust evidence-based quality management system that meets the CQC Quality Statements and Related Regulations, for as little as £70 per month. Then look no further than the Bettal Cared4 CQC Compliant Quality Management System.
